About Us

Barnes4Business is owned by Kelvin Barnes and Miranda Barnes and has been running since 2010.  We specialise in small and medium sized businesses, and also have considerable experience with not for profit organisations (community projects, clubs, pre-schools etc), and charities.

We are a professional accountancy practice regulated by the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA) and both Kelvin and Miranda hold practising certificates.

Kelvin Barnes

After graduating from university with an Accounting, Finance and Economics degree, Kelvin started his accountancy career at an accountancy practice in Oxford in August 1995.  By early 1997 he had passed all of his professional exams and became a professionally qualified accountant in 1999.

Kelvin’s accounting work has always been supporting small businesses, and he has gained significant knowledge and experience in this area as a result.  His career has also extended into working with Charities and Not for Profit Organisations, and being involved in audits.

When he is not working, Kelvin has many interests which include playing the guitar, horse racing, poker, golf, and watching Oxford United, where he has been a season ticket holder since 1992.

Miranda Barnes

Miranda’s route into accountancy was very similar to Kelvin’s, having graduated from university with a Business Studies degree in 1997, and qualifying as a professional accountant in 1999.

Miranda has worked for small local accountancy practices and also for large practices that operated on the national and international stage.  She has been involved in the audit of many large companies and charities, whilst also working with the smaller business.

Whilst taking some time out to raise a family she set up a small bookkeeping business.  It is this business that is the roots of today’s Barnes4Business and is a demonstration of how a small part time concern can develop into a full business concept through proper planning and commitment.

Outside of work, Miranda’s life is largely dominated by bringing up the children, and if that isn’t enough she is Brown Owl at a local Brownie pack.
