  • Miranda's Challenge

On Friday 16 August 2013, B4B owner Miranda Barnes will be starting the 3 Peaks Challenge.  Sensibly deciding to do one peak per day rather than the 24 hour version, Miranda has been training as much as she can to succeed with the challenge.  Miranda is raising money for charity and if you are willing to sponsor her please go to her just giving page at .

  • Our Office Move

We have moved our office to 12 Murdock Road, Bicester, Oxfordshire, OX26 4PP.  It wasn't long before we found ourselves outgrowing our previous office and after a few weeks of looking around we found what we consider to be just right for us to move forward.  We now have much more space to work in and to greet our visitors.  There are still a few things that we want to do to the office, in particular to kit out our proposed meeting room, and we will hopefully have all of this done over the next few weeks.

  • The Prostate Project Charity Golf Day

Thursday 20 September was the 12th Prostate Project Annual Charity Golf Day held at Hindhead Golf Club in Surrey.  This was the 2nd year that I had taken part in this, which is an excellent day out for a very worthly cause.  A big well done and thank you to the Alliss Promotions team headed by Jackie, and to everyone at Hindhead Golf Club for immaculate on course conditions and a very warm welcome, with delicious food.  The day is even better when you play reasonably well on a really difficult course!  An excellent day was had by all, and a lot of money raised for The Prostate Project

  • We Have Moved ...

... but not very far!  We are still at the Bicester Innovation Centre but have moved to a bigger office next door to the one we had.  We outgrew the other office much quicker than anticipated and the additional space we now have will allow us to continue growing and improve the service we can offer to our clients and contacts.  As well as the office change, a large technology investment will help improve things further, and we are very much looking forward to the future.  A big thank you to everyone who has supported us since we began in May 2010.

  • Tax Return Season

Time is starting to run out to submit your 2011 tax return to HMRC online.  The filing deadline is 31 January 2012.  There is a major change to late filing penalties this year.  Any tax return that is received after 31 January 2012 will be subject to an automatic £100 late filing penalty.  In previous years the penalty only applied if there was tax to pay.  Now anyone who files their tax return late will be fined.

  • Happy New Year

2011 has come and gone. Undoubtedly a difficult year in the Eurozone. The majority of our clients seem to indicate a much more positive outlook however. But don't dwell on what has happened in 2011. There are many stories of if's and but's, and there is nothing that you can do about them. Keep progressing the successes from 2011, learn from your mistakes, and move forward to 2012 and beyond. Whilst the economy is still not in it's finest state, there are undoubtedly opportunities out there and this could be the time to seize them and realise your dreams.

  • Employment Law Seminar

We held a really good seminar today at the Kassam Stadium, Oxford. Barnes4Business co-hosted the event with Peninsula, the employment law and health and safety specialists, and thanks to Nick Babington and Clive Oliver for their considerable input with this event. Centred around the changing world of employment law and health and safety, as accountants we have to be aware of these details, and we are well supported with this by Nick and his team when my clients and contacts need assistance.
